For mountain biking mid foot is the way to go!

I can not understand why, even on DH focused SPD shoes, the cleat is placed so far forward. Perhaps it is less of an issue for those with smaller feet, but if you have big feet then having the cleat all the way at the balls of your feet turn your foot into a big lever that puts strain on your ankle. Thankful this adapter exists! With Shimano GE900 shoes the adapter fits perfectly into the cleat channel which keeps the adapter and cleat out of the way while walking.

Pain free solution.

I have been experiencing pain in my left foot for years.
I bought them as I was cycling from John O’ Groats to Lands’ End. I did over 800 miles and my foot had no issues, fantastic solution.

Solid product, but unfortunate bolt choice

I've not had the opportunity to ride the cleat adapters a lot, but so far they feel good.
One thing that did strike me as odd, were the Philips head screws. The screws need to be tightened to 5Nm, which is a lot, when you only have the adapters to hold on to. Furthermore, the Philips drive on the screws means I had to push really hard into the screw to keep the screw driver engaged. Despite my best efforts the screw driver kept camming out marring the head of the screw.
It sucks. If I want to change the cleat position, I'm sure I will destroy the screw heads after two or three times. Please change these to either a internal hex or a Torx drive. I would change them myself if there wasn't a nylon thread locker patch on the screws.

SPD Adapter

I have use the Mid-foot adapter plates on my road shoes now for several years and love them so decided to give them a try with my gravel shoes.
The problem I found was that the holes on the adapter base plate did not line up with the plate on my Specialized shoes. Specialized obviously do not use the standard Shimano spacing on there gravel and mountain bike shoes and although this makes no difference when using Shimano SPD cleats it does not allow you to use the Mid-foot adapters.
The only solution was to change the internal plate in the shoe to a standard Shimano one but this would involve cutting into the internal sole of the shoe to access it and compromising the waterproofing. As my gravel shoes are pretty expensive this was a step too far for me. I contacted ‘Mid-foot’ and explained the problem but so far haven’t received any response.
